Father’s Day is a great opportunity to celebrate fathers with fun activities. Father’s Day is also to celebrate paternal bonds and the efforts male figures provide in our lives. Fathers are vitally important in the development of children and should be celebrated and recognized for what they do. Part of a fathers role is to provide a feeling of security, both physically and emotionally. Unfortunately, not everyone has a father who fulfills that role, but you probably have some strong male figures in your life who deserve celebrating.
I remember growing up and wanting to make my father proud. I loved making him laugh and doing fun activities together. Father’s Day offers children, no matter what age, the opportunity to express gratitude, grow closer to their fathers and create lasting memories.
5 fun activities to celebrate the important men in your life:
Go to a ballgame.
If your dad (or the person you are celebrating) is into sports this is a great opportunity. If you like baseball, it is a great thing to bond over. It’s fun to talk about players, eat some ballpark snacks and enjoy the summer night. If you don’t know a lot about baseball, that’s ok too. Dad’s always like a good teaching opportunity. If attending a pro baseball game isn’t an option, find a local minor league team. You could even go to a local high school baseball game.
Go fishing.
You have probably heard this idea before, but there is a reason why it keeps getting recommended. Casting a line out into the water is an excellent way to spend Dad’s special day. Fishing is one of those fun activities that is a classic. It provides plenty of moments for great conversation. Don’t forget to snag that Instagram worthy photo of your first catch.
Stay at home and watch a movie.
Movies are always on my list of fun activities. While summertime is approaching, many cities have outdoor movie screenings. This can be a unique way to check out the newest blockbuster hit. Sometimes I prefer to avoid the summer heat, the long lines and pricey concession stand, by staying in and watching a movie. Set up your own private screening in the house or backyard. It’s the perfect ending to a fantastic Father’s Day.
Go play golf.
Make your dad’s day a special one by doing something that is in his element or by trying something new if you’ve never golfed tighter before. Whether your dad is a pro on the golf course or could use an extra bucket of balls on the driving range, an afternoon of golf is a unique way to show your dad how much you care about him. If 18 holes isn’t really his thing, try Top Golf, an arcade style driving range that is fun for all ages and skill levels. Even those that don’t like golf are sure to have a great time at Top Golf.
Go to a comedy club.
If you are looking for other fun activities to avoid the summer heat, taking your father to a comedy show can be so much fun. Father’s day is the day to laugh at all the dad jokes – you know, the ones that are usually really embarrassing. Perhaps save it for the professionals and check out a local improv troupe. At Sak Comedy Lab, Dads get in free to all Father’s Day shows. Check out there website and see if there are any shows near you!
There are so many fun activities you can do with a special man in your life to celebrate father’s day. No matter what you decide to do, make sure you share your appreciation.
