Sometimes the grind of daily life can wear you down and spending some time away is exactly what you need to reconnect with your partner. Believe it or not, traveling to New York for a long weekend can actually be pretty simple. Personally, I use JetBlue to fly directly to JFK airport. There are countless fun activities, delicious dinning options, and sites to see in New York City and it’s a great way to give your relationship the spark it deserves. Have you considered taking a weekend trip somewhere to reignite the fun in the relationship? Here are my suggestions for you to make your relationship a priority and enjoy yourselves on a beautiful weekend trip to New York City.
Where To Stay On A Weekend Trip To New York City
The Wellington
This hotel is in a perfect location sandwiched between south Central Park and Times Square. It is easily walking distance to both locations and it makes it easy to get to broadway shows, Radio City music hall and so many other great spots. Another great perk of this hotel is they often have sales on their rooms if you check their website.
Hotel Central Park
While this hotel is a step up in price from the Wellington, it is right off of Central Park and has breathtaking views of the city and Central Park. New York has many eclectic and different style hotels, this is definitely one of the best.
The Pierre, A Taj Hotel
Again, stepping up the price range, if you are wanting to go all out for your weekend trip to New York City, look no further than The Pierre. It is full of class and elegance. If you are wanting to splurge on your hotel, this is a great place to do it! It’s beautiful!
What To Do On A Weekend Trip To New York City
See a show.
There are so many choices when it comes to shows in NYC – there’s the classic hits and there’s always new, up and coming shows. Make sure you get your tickets early or be prepared to wait in a long line at sunrise for discounted tickets. New York City is so full of talented actors and actresses that many of them get their start on shows on Broadway. Save a few dollars and check out one of the many “Off-broadway” productions. Usually in smaller theaters, you can enjoy a very up-close and personal view.
Visit Central Park.
How can you go to NYC without a stroll in the park? One of the best places to sit and people watch, relax on a warm afternoon and explore. There are options to walk or ride through out Central Park. This also happens to be one of the most iconic spots in New York due to the number of Hollywood productions filmed in the park. There are so many pretty things to see and fun things to do in the park. Take a carriage ride or enjoy a picnic in the park.
Check out Spyscape.
If you travel to New York with kids, Spyscape is an exhilarating, interactive museum for kids. The museum provides you with a wristband that you use to access many interactive features in the exhibits. They track your scores and give you a rating of what type of spy you would be when you are finished. I’m not going to lie, its a lot of fun for adults too!
Go on a walking sightseeing tour.
There are no shortage of fabulous landmarks in this city. This is a great opportunity to get the camera out and explore all of the different sites. Check out the One World Observatory and memorial, the Statue of Liberty, and Times Square. Be sure to bring your best walking shoes and get out there, see the sights and make some memories.
Shop at Chelsea Market.
Off the beaten path from Times Square, Chelsea is much less touristy. Chelsea Market is full of shops and over-the-counter restaurants. It has everything from Flower shops, antiques, candy stores, and fish markets. Chelsea Market is also a great place to enjoy a quick lunch.
Where To Eat On A Weekend Trip To New York City
The Smith
The Smith is a casual American Brasserie with four upbeat locations in New York City. Our favorite location is smack dab across the street from Lincoln Center. In the heart of the Upper West Side, this location is filled with everyone from pre and post theatergoers to neighborhood families to global travelers. In the blissful warmer months, the outdoor sidewalk café is ideal for long brunches and lunches in the sunshine.
Black Tap
Black Tap is a modern version of a classic New York City burger joint serving award-winning New York style burgers, wings, crazy shakes, craft beers, mason jar cocktails and much more. The crazy shakes are an absolute must! Not only are they instagram worthy, they are downright delicious!
Best Bagel and Coffee
It lives up to the name, really. Just south of Times Square, this spot is a local hot spot for large bagels that are hand-rolled, kettle boiled and baked fresh daily on the premises with all natural ingredients and no preservatives. If you need more reasons, they have over 20 different spread options for your bagel. Yum!
Los Tacos No.1
I mentioned Chelsea Market above and this is one of the “musts.” This restaurant is inside the market. The authentic taste comes from family recipes and from fresh, simple and tasteful ingredients straight from Mexico.
The best thing about New York City is there are so many things to do that if you can’t get around to everything in one trip, you can always come back and visit again!
